  Our waitress, while trying her best, stated there were only 2 servers on; both new AND only 2 in the kitchen!! Poor planning there.

  Few options for casual-fine dining in the greater Corner Brook area provide the same experience enjoyed at Gitano's. A notable balance in price, culinary excellence and service quality are certainly found here. I have dined here many times over the past three years with friends, colleagues and family, and have not been disappointed once.

  I had been looking forward to lunch with a friend after having returned to Corner Brook after my sabbatical. In the past the food has been good and the service professional. This time my Chicken and salad was barely edible, with wilted lettuce, far too much dressing, and what appeared to be de-boned, mechanically manipulated chicken. It certainly didn't taste or have the texture of any chicken I've ever eaten before and I was unable to finish the food. At $17.00 per plate the least I should expect is to be able to eat it. Also my friend and I were not able to hold a conversation because we could not hear one another over the banging of a drum caused by a band member preparing for his big evening performance who had decided to test his drums while we were eating. Evidently it didn't serve him to wait until the place closed at 2:00 to prepare for the evening. Also the waitress didn't see fit to ask him to stop until after our meal was over and the restaurant closed for the afternoon. Unacceptable. Very disappointing,

  If you're looking for delectable food options for either lunch or dinner, warm and hospitable hosts, and a welcoming atmosphere, you may want to consider Gitano's for your next outing.

  Monday, July 10th, 6 of us had a reservation for 730. Arrived promptly and clearly there were only 2 tables of patrons currently; place was fairly empty. We were greeted and told our table wasn't ready. Tables had not been cleared. Please sit at the bar and have a drink. No bartender. 30 min later we were told our table was ready, after never being served a drink. Sat there for another 20 min or so before we saw a waitress. Took our drink order; waited another 20 min for the drinks. At that time we ordered food as we were wondering if we would ever again see her again. Appys came 30 min later........main meal another 20 min after that. We left over 2 hrs after arriving. Totally disappointed with a restaurant we have been patrons of before. We brought company from "away", who were there for the first time. We brought them there because of the previous great service and food we had experienced there. I was embarrassed. It's tourist season; meet the challenge! The evening's staff capability was vastly overestimated. Even a couple who arrived after us was served before us....did they pre-order?

  And unfortunately, the food was below average, much below the quality of previous visits. Yes, you may ask why we didn't leave.....I kept thinking it would be ok...not so much. AND I often don't complain, but I was floored by the whole experience. We gave our server our honest feedback, which she took like a trooper. Offered us a dessert or free drink, or to take a couple of drinks off the bill.
